Teaching Features

Student-centered, interdisciplinary collaboration, and life-connected

Teachers should consult with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists to obtain advice regarding students' major and minor muscle development and language expression needs, while also referring to students' personal files and visual acuity data provided by the low vision specialist. We should integrate life skills, low vision training, and orientation training into daily life routines.

Students use their limited visual abilities to identify balls of different colors and shapes.

Students use orientation skills to master daily routes and walk independently.

Strengthen students' hand-eye coordination

Braille Training

Low Vision Training

Visually impaired educationThis is a teaching method and support system specifically designed for students with moderate to severe visual impairment. Visually impaired children still possess varying degrees of usable vision, offering significant potential for developing their visual abilities. Its core objective is to encourage students to realize their visual potential through systematic training.Make the most of your remaining visionIn addition, by combining other senses (such as hearing and touch) and assistive tools, we can help them learn effectively and participate in daily activities, thereby improving their overall abilities.

Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Training

"Orientation"It refers to the process of using one's senses to establish one's own position and its relationship to all tangible objects in one's environment."Walk"Orientation refers to all methods or tools used to travel from one's current location to a desired destination. Through a series of systematic training programs in orientation and mobility, visually impaired students can gradually master different orientation and mobility skills (including the concepts and skills of independent walking indoors and outdoors), enabling them to walk independently safely, effectively, and gracefully, integrate into the community, and live more autonomously.

Braille Training

Individualized training programs are designed for students to enhance their Braille knowledge and skills through different learning stages, thereby strengthening their communication and independence in daily life. The training scope includes:

Sensory training

Using tactile materials such as raised Braille cards enhances students' tactile sensitivity. Listening to and singing Cantonese Braille songs helps students memorize Braille characters, and tactile reading improves their reading skills.

Phonics training

Using the phonetic transcription method to teach Cantonese pronunciation of words strengthens students' sense of resonance when spelling syllables.

Distinguish tones

Beginners can improve their tone recognition through singing, playing, and acting; more advanced students can directly identify Cantonese tones. The "Tianlai Tone Method" can be used to learn entering tone characters.

Writing practice

By improving students' typing strength and accuracy through finger technique training, and combining it with words and phrases from Chinese language textbooks, learning becomes more life-oriented and interesting.

Staff Training

Provide Braille training for newly hired teachers and teaching assistants, including Braille in Cantonese, mathematics and English alphabet, to improve teaching quality and homework tutoring effectiveness.
